I am completely and utterly frustrated!!

Here’s the deal.. my husband and I smoke, not something I broadcast or am even proud of  but whatever, it’s harder to quit than some realize. Anyways… not the point.

We get coupons in the mail all the time for Camel cigarettes and I have always used them to save tons! Never once had an issue anywhere I went, anywhere! Today? I went to MurphyUSA to get the usual on a Friday, full tank of gas and cigarettes for my husband and myself. I walk up there, coupons in hand like usual, and ask for 8 packs of each which is 16. He saw I had coupons in my hand and told me with the worst attitude that he would not accept them because the packs already discount at $1.00. Well fine… what does that have to do with my coupon? That’s a sale! I have done this many times before and never had that problem. So I ask him “You mean to tell me you won’t take a manufacturer coupon?” He said “No” Okay… I will take my business elsewhere. When I said that to the gentleman his reply was “Good” with an attitude. I’m sorry… that sent me off. (He acted like those coupons were coming straight out of his check!?)

I got to my office and called their corporate office, emailed corporate and even commented on their Facebook to them. I wanted to make sure my voice was heard on how rudely I was treated for trying to use coupons. Over the phone they were very nice and told me it would be sent to the district manager. I got an email and Facebook response both apoligizing for this guy’s actions and BOTH told me I could use my coupons and he should of allowed it.

Well this afternoon I felt better due to their quick and genually nice response about the situation, so I thought I would take my business back to them. (Secretly I wanted to make that guy scan all 16 coupons just because of his attitude). I get there and he and another woman are in the little “box” and I ask for the cigarettes. He got mine easily but when he went to get the other he picked every type but the one I asked for (I guess they were trying to play dumb?) I pointed to exactly what I asked for and he said “You know I won’t take your coupons!” I said “fine… I already spoke to corporate and they said I should be allowed to use them, I can call them again if you’d like.” He told me to call them, so I stood there and dialed.

Spoke to a very nice woman over the phone and again for the 4th time explained the issue and I told her the only reason I came back was because corporate was very pleasant and I wanted to give them my business but this guy was making it hard. She listened and then put me on hold, next minute the cashier’s guys phone is ringing and it was the lady. A few minutes later she came back on with me and told me that the guy said there was an issue with the coupons and it wouldn’t work. (How would he know?! He never even looked at one of them!) So I told her that he had not even looked at them, he just got an attitude when he saw I had some. She apologized repeatedly for it and said he would talk to the District Manager and get it sorted out.

Fine, no problem… i’ll take my business elsewhere for sure. I am not even going back there to fill up on gas, there is no way I will contribute to that guy’s paycheck every week. Corporate asked for my info. and said she would be sending me a gift cert. of some sort… but thats not what I wanted, I wanted to be treated with respect and not have some cashier guy act like I was trying to rip him or anyone off. Ohhhh it just makes me mad, I am still ticked at the whole thing. Corporate was nice and I can understand they were not there personally to see the thing so they had to go by their employees word… but I can’t believe he straight up LIED and said my coupons weren’t going to work for whatever reason when they would and they have many times before.. and he didn’t even look at them! 

I needed to vent… and don’t even get me started on the guy at QT (i went there after I got an issue with the other guy) who had me do 4 different transactions and try to explain coupons to me. He tried to tell me it was supposed to be one per transaction, I said okay… show me where it says that on the coupon. He read the coupon to me and I swear (I was reading it with him) when it said “One coupon per pack” he would read out loud “One coupon per transaction” I tried to point out over and over that nowhere did it say that but he just wasn’t getting it.
