Our 4 Year Wedding Anniversery!

Four years ago today I was nervous and shaking as I walked down the aisle, I had no clue what was ahead of me but I knew I was willing to go on the journey with just one man.

This has proven to be the hardest but the greatest experience of my life and I wouldn’t change it for anything. All our ups and downs have made us stronger than ever and I can honestly say I am more in love with him than the day I said I Do.

He is not just my husband but my best friend, the one person I can look to and know he’ll be there. He is an amazing man, a wonderful provider, a gentle spouse and a Godly man.

I can boast and say I have found one of the good ones and I am never letting him go.

Alzheimers

Alzheimer’s disease: a progressive form of presenile dementia that is similar to senile dementia except that it usually starts in the 40s or 50s; first symptoms are impaired memory which is followed by impaired thought and speech and finally complete helplessness.

As  I sit here and work on my site, after a long night of uncomfortable sleeping on my mother’s couch, across the room there is an amazing woman. You wouldn’t know how amazing she is by looking at her, most would just see a fragile old woman asleep in her hospital bed, looking malnourished and on the brink of death.

I see that woman but I also see the woman who used to take walks with me around her neighborhood, bribe me with nail polish to stop biting my nails, poke at me and play with me, offer me ice cream 3 times in a night because she forgot about the first two times. I see a woman who raised an amazing daughter who i’m proud to call mom.

My Couponing came back to bite me in the butt

This Post May Contain Affiliate Links : Disclosure Policy

My hubby has taken over our checkbook to take some of the load of the household stuff off of me. At first I thought I would enjoy it and then I realized…. hes’ going to scrutinize every receipt I give him! And I was right, he does. I make an online deal purchase or $5 and he wants to know every little thing about it, which is fine, it holds me accountable. But now… now it’s gotten even worse.

You know those grocery trips you make that aren’t super duper great? You know the ones…. there’s no huge sale on anything you want so you buy a lot of the basics bread, milk, brownies because you have a sweet tooth, etc etc. Well he scrutizines those the most!

He has gotten so used to my couponing that he looks at how much I save before he even looks at how much I spent. I stopped at Kroger this week and spent $5 for some drinks and a quick lunch and saved .10 cents and he was shocked. Then I went to Publix for some of our regular groceries during a not so hot week and spent $30 and saved $34… yeah, his response? “You’re slacking aren’t you honey? You only saved half!’

Yeah…. I guess this is when the couponing comes back to bite you in the butt? He’s gotten so used to the “big savings” that it’s just obsurd that I only saved half and not more.

I’d like to see him go save some money at the grocery store…. just sayin’.

Vlog: What’s in a Stockpile? Video of Mine & More!

This Post May Contain Affiliate Links : Disclosure Policy

I decided to share a video of my stockpile to maybe show some beginners or those interested what a normal stockpile looks like. Most people don’t have 3 rooms full of products nor do most people need 3 rooms worth of products. You only need what you can actually use and use before it expires. So here’s a video of my simple stockpile…

Few key points I want to touch on :

  • You don’t need to buy 50 of one item, most sales circulate and it will come again in a month or more. Only stock up on what you need.

  • Don’t clear the shelves, this is my biggest pet peve with couponing. Always remember there are others shopping behind you that may need the product(s) and everyone needs to be considerate.

  • Your stockpile should not be a competition, it’s your own personal stock with items you and your family use. If you don’t use or need a certain product don’t buy it just because you can or you have a coupon.

  • Do not let coupons or your stockpile overrun your life. If you’re spending more time on your coupons and free products than you are with your family or friends then it’s no longer a healthy and thrifty hobby but an obsession.

Along with my own stockpile I had some readers send me photos of theirs to share! I love to see people stockpiles and I imagine you guys will too. (click on the image to expand)

It’s Ok to lie to your kids!

This Post May Contain Affiliate Links : Disclosure Policy

Ok ok don’t freak out on me! But most of us grew up.. well… being lied to by our lovely parents! Mine did it… yours probably did it… and you probably do it now! Why do parents lie? Simple…. Kids. Don’t. Listen! They don’t! So parent’s decided to tell little lies to get the child to behave and it worked. Mine told me all sorts of things and I turned out a perfectly normal functioning member of society. This is just a little list I came up with on lies that I was told growing up. Please note this is just a fun post! Any replies about lying to children or how to raise a child are not necessary here, this is just for fun. Enjoy :)

“I have eyes in the back of my head” – ok, really? I know they didn’t, but back then i believed it! How else would they know I was sticking my tongue out at my brother in the back seat?!

“Going out with a wet head will give you pneumonia” – No… no it won’t. But it got me to dry my hair in the mornings! I was a lazy child, I didn’t want to do anything to my hair and instead of letting me go out looking like a scraggly thing this got me to dry it!

“Thunder is God bowling and lighting is when he gets a strike” – haha, I still love this one! I believed it for a long time when I was real little, made me much less afraid of thunder. I even tell my goddaughter this one!

“We give you $20 for allowance but $10 of that goes into a college fund for you!” - Well where was this ‘college fund’ when I turned 18? That’s right… nowhere! Apparently it was an imaginary one but it made me feel better about only getting $10.

“When I was your age I walked to school barefoot, in the snow, uphill both ways!” – This was my dad’s favorite. Didn’t quite work once we got old enough to figure out he grew up in downtown Atlanta and it rarely snows.

“This hurts me more than it hurts you” – Really? I don’t think your pain hurts anymore than my behind being paddled with a wooden spoon. But nice try!

“Santa Clause” – Should we go there? All I can say is I believed for a LONG time. Even when I was 8 we ran into him at a Mexican Restaurant, he even had an I.D that said Santa Clause!

“That blinking light is rudolph’s nose!” – Yes… I would stare at that blinking light of the Airplane reindeer for hours watch ‘rudolph’. Hey, it kept me quiet on the ride home!

“You’ve just got big bones!” – Really? My bones? Boy I believed that one for a LONG time!

“Mom and Dad are taking a nap” – Yes… every Sunday afternoon we really thought they were napping!

So… what lies were you told or do you tell?
