Today was a first for me, I had a coupon turned away. Not because it was expired or the wrong item, in fact I had everything to a T. The problem was overage, about $2 worth per coupon and I had 4 coupons. To me this was great, I kept thinking $8 overage, this will be awesome! Nope… nope it was not.
Target turned my coupon away, which was odd because I have used countless coupons there with overage many times and never once had an issue. I understand rules and managment decisions, and that’s what this was. It was a manager’s discression and she didn’t like the $2 overage. Instead of just adjusting the price like most store would have done… she completely turned my coupons away.
So instead of spending $11 with a $5 Target gift card back I had to spend $19 and get a $5 Gift Card. I am not complaining… Target has been a great place to shop. But I also feel that each store should have a set policy, firm, for every transaction and follow it. So I will not go in there and feel like a fool who is trying to rip them off when they turn my coupons away.
