I’ve decided to post real reviews with 100% honesty once a week. Why? No, it’s not like my other reviews aren’t honest, because they are. But let’s face it, there are a lot of products out there that a lot of us use on a regular basis that we either love or hate. Or if you’re like me, you want to buy a product but first want to see how it actually holds up. I trust reviews written by actual everyday consumers over anything and if someone tells me there’s a huge issue, I sure as heck won’t buy it!
I’ve purchased Finish Detergent a lot lately during some great Publix deals so I have a decent stock up on it! But before I stocked up I tried a box out, I wanted to make sure it actually worked well. And it does, I am so satisfied with it! No residue on my dishes, no detergent specs everywhere and everything gets clean.
Then the other week P&G released a $1/1 Cascade product with no minumum, so I headed out to Walmart and bought some free trial size packets. They were $.97 each and I had $1/1, so I just paid $.03 cents for each in tax after my overage. A decent enough price to test out the product before I bought anymore.
I hate to say it, I do, because i’ve used Cascade products in the past with no issue. But these things are absolutely horrible in my dishwasher! The first one I used decided not to leave the little holder at all, I ran a cycle and when I was done I saw that it was still there. I figured it was a flaw in my dishwasher so I ran it through again, this time it came out. However, my dishes were far from clean.
Hubby picked up a cup and poured himself a drink, about halfway through he realized it started to taste really funny. He poured out the tea and saw that there was still junk at the bottom of the cup. Gross! So I decided I needed to go back and check some of the other dishes that came out of the dishwasher and sure enough about half of them were greasy looking or had some sort of residue/left over on them. Not cool… at all.
Again, I figured this must have been a flaw with my dishwasher, right? Wrong! I did two more cycles and had the same exact results! So I said heck with it, i’ll try my Finish again. And sure enough it got everything nice and clean like usual!
So, what did I learn? Well I learned to rinse out my dishes a bit better (though that really shouldn’t matter with a good detergent). I also learned that I do not like Cascade… i’m not sure if my dishwasher just prefers Finish or if it’s just a better product all together, who knows. I do know that I will be tossing the rest of my Cascade samples and I am SO GLAD I didn’t pay full price for any of them!
