Closet Organizers USA – Design a closet!

Did you see my post last week about my totally unorganized nonfunctional master closet? Well there’s a great solution to my issue.. a custom closet organizer system!

In the process of trying to decide what to do with our closet we did check out our local Hardware store and looked at the prebuilt system. But to be honest… it’s difficult to fit those! Not every closet is the same layout or size so what you see on the cover of the box 9 times out of 10 won’t be what your own finished results will be.

So why not design your own closet system? With the right measurements and made custom to fit your personal closet, it will look like it was meant for your house. Closet Organizers USA has a great set up for designing your own system.

First thing to do is name your closet whatever you’d like, select a finish color and hardware color for your system. I love the walnut finish and chose that one.

Now you will need to figure out if your closet is a reach in or walk in and click on the appropriate template. Mine is a walk in so that’s what I selected.

Next step is to measure measure and measure, you want to make sure you get the correct measurements so your system fits perfectly! You will want to measure the back wall, both side walls and the well between the door frame and side walls and the height from floor to ceiling. Make sure to measure to the trim of the door frame only, you don’t want your system going any further than that.

Now if your closet layout is like mine, you may not be able to use one of the preset templates. While most closets are one of those layouts, some aren’t. This is where the great customer service comes in! You can either download a custom design form to draw out the layout yourself and fax/email it to them or if you don’t have access to that you can contact customer service and they will help design your layout for you! All layouts created can be saved to come back to at a later date if needed.

This is my closet’s layout that they set up for me!

Once all your measurements are submitted you will have your basic design layout, this is where the fun part comes in. Designing the system itself! There are tons of styles to choose from for shelving, hanging sections, drawers, etc. You can mix and match all sorts of system layouts until you find the one that works for you.

Once your design is set up the way you want it, all you need to do is add the finishing touches. You can change the colors of the system if you’d like (even change the shelving and drawer colors), choose your hardware color and choose your hardware style.

For Delivery they excel in the customer service department, you are kept up to date on your system (when they begin to build it, when it ships, etc) and any issues they may run into you are informed of everything! So there’s no guessing and hoping, you know where your unit is at all times.

I loved the process of designing a system and letting my imagination run wild with what I could do! I cannot wait to start the instillation process (well… my hubby, not me haha) and see it all set up.

Keep an eye out, I will be posting about the system instillation process and the final outcome next week! And there will even be a nice giveaway to help you get organized!
